Artist's Comments

A WIP of my new character, Kyt Lyn Tao. She is a Verreaux's Sifaka and has a sister that she works with that is incredibly skilled with a bow and arrow (I've yet to draw up or create any intimate details about Kyt Lyn's sister). Kyt Lyn is part of the group of assassins that killed Rem's tribe, which Bokro Ryn is also part of.

I'm not terribly impressed with this sketch so far, and the face is in dire need of reworking, but for the most part it'll all have to do.

I think this is gonna be great, can't wait to see the final result. :)
The pose is dynamic and elegant, and the proportions show an interesting character.

Well, thank you kindly. :3

I think the composition will be improved a bit since the ballance really isn't there... and... that face really didn't turn out after it moved from the cartoony sketch into something more detailed... But, yeah, she is supposed to be a very animated and eligant, and almost dance-like character. c:

Thanks again.

I actually really like the face so far. There's a lot of personality there in spite of how much animal there is as well :3. I like the whole body structure as well. It reminds me a lot of the idealized female forms in traditional East Indian art and is very graceful and voluptuous.

Not a subscriber so I can't give you an "official" critique, but I'll write a few little observations here for you to consider.
At first I wasn't sure about the pose because it's off balance. I think after looking at it more I really do like it though. It has a kind of playful monkey king vibe to it. I think a big part of what makes it work is that her cape/cloak looks like it's floating. It gives her an otherworldly kind of quality.
A few little anatomical errors you may want to address: her right breast (her right, our left) is too far center and the musculature on her upper arm on the same side is broken up a little oddly. The bicep and tricep overlap a bit instead of resting side by side when you look from that angle. Here's a photo (obviously this isn't a female arm, but it illustrates the muscle group well) [link] Other than that her anatomy looks really good to me. I love the weight distribution in her waist and her hands and feet are positioned really naturally.
One other issue you might want to look at is the cropping on the same side as I mentioned above. I feel like it gets a little claustrophobic with the sheath ending at the very edge of the paper like that, especially since the rest of it has a margin.

Anyway, hope that was helpful! Can't wait to see it finished :3

Sorry I got back to you so late. I've been afk so much lately, but I'm SOOOOO glad you are around to help me like this. You have a knack for knowing what's right and a phenominal artistic eye so everything you say is just pure validation!

Like, I mean, I agree with you almost completely here. The Monkey King comment was a perfect example of what I was going for. This character is highly agile, graceful, and animated. Dance-like was the exact descriptor I used.

As for the breast, that's something I really noticed myself too, it looked especially obvious once I scanned it. And, the arm was something I knew needed revisions too, but you know how you kinda second guess yourself and are like... when I guess it works... What I really should have done is pulled out some refs or something but I was playing army as the time of drawing this so I wasn't at liberty to just whip out my own arm and stand in front of a mirror! But, man... thanks for helping me decide and I know exactly what I did wrong now.

As for cropping... the scanner does that a bit... it's not the actual size of the paper you see her... sadly... But, my scanner does that shit for some reason.
