Officially Open for Commissions

Wed Nov 11, 2009, 12:55 PM
This is a pretty rare opportunity to get your hands on my artwork. Considering I've never sold my artwork before—commissions or otherwise.

First and foremost, I'm gonna tell you all that I’m not extremely affordable. I'm a bit sad to say it, but my work doesn't fall within everyone's price range. I can be flexible though, and we can figure out some compromises with prices, but don't expect my prices to fall below minimum wages ($8 an hour).

— All artwork will be graphite pencil work.

Until I feel confident in other mediums that is what you will get. I don't want to risk disappointing anyone on the bases of me sucking.

— All sketches are free.

I won't charge you a cent for mulling around ideas, and I will try my very best to please you before we decide what direction to take the final image.

— Paypal only, please.

I might be able to work some other method out with you, but really, you should get a Paypal. It is super groovy and convenient. If you are having issues with payments too, I can try and work things out for you. Just talk to me, I want to work with you.

— Half payment up front.

Or, at least something. I'll work with you on this, but I don't want to invest as much time as I do on an image and then get burned. Oh, man, teh raeg.

— I ship anywhere for free.

Upon completion of payment I'll ship anywhere for free, including international. If you want insurance on your package I will ask for compensation on that particular fee.

— I will draw a lot of things, but not everything.

Please, don't ask me to draw in “such-and-such” style. I assume if you are commissioning me, that you are commissioning me based on my own merits and unique flavor in artwork. Plus, I blow at other styles, believe me. ;_;
I'll attempt almost anything you can think off, but keep in mind that particularly unusual requests and/or subjects that I am not familiar with may result in images that are not as neatly refined as some of the rest of my artwork. I won’t charge you extra based on my frustrations, but it might not be everything you hoped for.
I'm pretty cool with pin-ups, seductive poses, and soft-core images in generally, but I'm simply not comfortable or confident in my ability to draw hardcore drawings. :\ Thank you.
I will try my best to work with you, but, of course, I have the right to deny any commission request. If it becomes apparent that we cannot reach a compromise on an image, you might want to commission me for an entirely different idea, or perhaps simply seek out another artist.

— Be specific.

Details don't scare me, but if you aren't specific, or give me the go ahead to take my artistic liberties, you will get what you get. Traditional artworks are nearly impossible to edit on a significant level. Minor edits (if possible) are okay, but any major edits (if possible) will probably result in a lot of work, and cost extra, and might even ruin the image. If you are a picky personality, be as specific as possible from the very get-go in the areas that you care about.

— My artwork looks better in person.

I really can't stress this enough—scanners suck. I can almost promise you that you will be satisfied with the quality of pencil work when you view it for yourself. Which I hope may help justify my prices a bit.

Prices:

$35 = 1 sketchy fullbody character.
[link]
$75 = 1 refined fullbody character.
[link]
$100 = 1 refined fullbody character + simple/moderately complex background.
[link]
$125 = 1 refined fullbody character + moderately/very complex background.
[link]
$150 = 2 refined fullbody characters.
[link]
$175 = 2 refined fullbody characters + simple/moderately complex background.
[link]
$200 = Extremely refined fullbody character.
[link]
$250 = Extremely refined fullbody character + background.
(no present example)

— These are just general pricings, and I also hold the ability to adjust pricings on a case by case basis.

These prices are simply estimates for the purposes of determining initial payments. I work on an $8 an hour basis, so, for example, if I charge $75 for a "1 fullbody character" portrait that means I'm expecting to put 9 hours of work into the image. You would pay me something like $40 to start (five hours work) and if I only took 5 hours to do the work (unlikely, since you are paying for more work than that and expect refined result) you wouldn't be expected to pay the rest. On the plus side, if I worked 12 hours on the image ($96 of work), which is actually pretty likely, I wouldn't charge you any more than $75 which is my price cap, unless it was taking just an insane amount of time which would push it up to the range of an "Extremely refined fullbody character".
I can work cheaper than these stated prices too, but you'll simply get less bang for your buck (i.e. simple bust, or lineart drawing, etc). Also, lets say you want 2 characters plus a background but can only pay $75, right? I can work that out for you too, but you could expect the work to be much more gestural and unrefined, etc.

Who's in school?

And, who fuckin' hates it?
I'll tell ya who!
That's right! This guy. Mhmmm, oh yeah.

I have 4 essays to write by Thursday. Life iiiiis glorious.

So, I want you, my dear America, to share your current high school/university experiences with me. I WANT DRAMA. Preferably, of the juiciest variety.

There is also this pedophile that keeps harassing my art class. The amount of bullshit that comes out of this guys mouth is insurmountable, and it's actually kind of a game to figure out what is somewhat true or not.

School started.

Just an FYI for the few of you that may care about my hiatus--I'll be busy with school stuffs and probably hyper focused on it until I feel I'm in the swing of things.

Also, I'm holding off on internet for just a little while, since I get it free at school anyways, and also until I find a decent provider.

So, take it easy now. I'm getting nervous.

Poland was fuckin awesome. It was way better than I expected and I got to do a lot of cool shit. :iconriftryu: and :iconpetertherabbit: are the best Polish girls around. The highlights of the trip are probably climbing a mountain, and going to Slovakia to see a cave and a castle. BUT ESPECIALLY, seeing Rifty's dreams come true when she got to see lemurs and anteaters up close. :3

If you aren't already watching ~riftryu and are reading this, you are WRONG. I can not stress that enough. She is the sweetest, most amazing, unappreciated person and artist I know, and just a down right genius with her hands. She has a lot of good to share, and I encourage you to encourage her in her creations and ideas.

As for ~PetertheRabbit... Well, she was clever enough to do the near impossible--get me to fall in love. And, I'm very glad it was with her. I've been so cynical about love in the past, I never thought I'd find a girl I could lean on, and I can honestly say I feel lucky. I'm not going to be one of those people that brags about how awesome relationships are and shit, and in our case it isn't that awesome when we have half the world seperating us, but I guess I'm just very thankful it's finally happened to me. She's a brave, intelligent, dependable, patient, and loving woman. I... don't deserve her, and I still can't imagine why she would take a risk on me. I really love her.

I should note: I can see a lot of people critisizing long distance relationships (rightfully so sometimes), including me, but I've seen them work out before, and when you know you truly love someone, it survives. And, shit... loving someone is the hardest thing I know how to do. In my case, the distance is an easy obstical in comparison. Beleive me, I've done hard shit before, I feel bad about being seperaterated, but in this case, distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Alright, enough about that shit.

In recent news, I'm about to start art school. Other classes I have to take are some math classes, probably for two years since I scored horrible on that shit. Goddam math is useless in the real world (don't fuckin kid yourself, unless you are an accountant, you'll never use anything past algebra), so I forgot all that shit. Inversely, I nearly, and I mean nearly, tested out of English (and man that test was retarded and unfair). Ironically, I always hated English class, but it's practical to understand what you are saying and hearing, so I can honestly say that I'm quite motivated with the simple concept of using speech, except more so on my own grounds. It's nothing difficult to practice and use really, unlike dumb fuck math. Maybe I can test outta some of that math shit when I get in, I dunno. Fuck math. Okay, then I have Polish class, which, despite being extremely difficult, I'm very motivated in learning for quite obvious reasons. I never found a good motivation when I was younger for learning and practice another language, so I just kind of worked on the one I already knew, but now that I'm older and can count four native speakers of Polish as friends. I think I can get excited about this type of thing now. The rest is like, some random requisits that I forgot what they are.

And, to conclude, I'm moved into a new appartment (I'll be leaving to live in there soon). I won't have internet for a little while I can imagine, but I'm sure you'll manage without me for a bit.

Take it easy now. God Bless.

Gone for a while.

I'm gonna be gone for awhile while I'm away in Poland come the 27th. Plus, I need to move my stuff into my new apartment too before then and finally, I'll have school stuff to take care of once I get back from poland as well. So, I'm gonna be gone in excess of a month.
